ADHD Research Study - Volunteers Needed

Do you and your child want to participate in an ADHD study?

Help find out if wearing a weight belt will reduce symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Check it out. You can keep the weight belt FREE after the study! A $55 value - FREE!

Parents, children, and treatment professionals are always looking for methods to help with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder other than medication. You, and your child's, participation in this research study will contribute to our knowledge about using a weight belt to address symptoms of ADHD.

We are searching for volunteers for a study of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms. The study is designed to find out if wearing a weight belt can help to reduce the symptoms of ADHD. Parents of children aged 6 to 14 with symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (in the United States) can contact Dr. Hayes at Cranberry Counseling . To be accepted into the study, parents will fill out a short (10 item) questionnaire to demonstrate that their child does exhibit symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

It does not matter if your child is currently in treatment or not. It does not matter if your child is taking medication or not. It only matters that your child demonstrates symtpoms of an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Once accepted into the study, parents will receive a form to indicate the size and weight of their child. This will determine the proper size weight belt for their child. Parents will receive the weight belt by mail, with instructions on how to wear the belt, and how to participate in the study.

Children participating in the ADHD study are asked to wear the weight belt for 15 to 30 minutes a day for a week, when their parent(s) can supervise them. This could be while doing homework, or at dinner (for example). On the last day of the week of wearing the weight belt, while the child is wearing the belt, parents will again rate their child's symptoms of ADHD using the short (10 item) questionnaire.

The weight belt is yours to keep, free of charge, after completion of your participation in the study. This way, if you like the results of your child wearing the belt, you can continue using it.

Participation is voluntary, and confidential. You and your child's name will NOT be released to any source as part of participation in the study. Dr. Hayes is the only investigator who will have access to personal information, and it is his duty to keep personal information PRIVATE. You may withdraw your consent to participate in this study at any time. You may request a written report about the results of the study. Dr. Hayes is also available to help parents with questions about their child's Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms, or about how to find a treatment professional for further diagnosis or intervention.

Interested parents can fill out the Contact Us form to request information about participation in the study. Dr. Hayes will contact them about details of volunteering for the study.

Dr. Hayes and Cranberry Counseling thank you for viewing this web page, and your interest in the study.
